"Clark Grieve (Guitarist - Hotel Mira) on the Radial JDX Direct-Drive: On our most recent tour I needed a more portable option than my trusty Fender combo amp, so I thought it would be a great opportunity to try out Radial’s JDX Direct-Drive. As an amp-using holdout in the era of digital modellers and profilers, the all-analog design really appealed to me. To say that I am pleasantly surprised by the Direct-Drive would be a disservice to the high standard I have come to know and expect from Radial products. In fact, the Direct-Drive works exactly as well as I thought it would; it sounds fantastic, and it’s built like a tank. My concern that I might need more tone-shaping options than the deceptively simple interface provided was immediately abated upon actually hearing the unit in action. It just sounds good: exactly like my Fender combo when it is properly mic’ed up. And it responds to pedals just like one would hope; I barely even had to adjust my settings! The Direct-Drive will definitely be finding a permanent home on my pedalboard; it’s great to know that it has my back(line)."
