Can I power the SGI Stereo TX using my pedalboard power supply?
Yes, the SGI Stereo TX can be powered with most common pedalboard power supplies. You can feed it anything from 9V to 18V, and it is compatible with both center-pin positive and center-pin negative polarity.
Can I use other instruments such as a keyboard or even voice through the SGI Stereo?
Yes. Just make sure you do not overload the input as this will cause distortion. Keep in mind that the SGI Stereo is designed for guitar levels. Keyboards and line level outputs are significantly more powerful and should be attenuated.
Does the SGI Stereo use any digital conversion to transmit over Cat5 cable?
No, the SGI Stereo uses a completely analog signal that requires no digital conversion. It utilizes the analog conductors within the Cat5 cable to send balanced signals over long distances without any latency or noise.
Can I use the SGI Stereo as a re-amping device?
No. The SGI Stereo employs a proprietary balanced signal between the TX transmit module and the RX receive module, making in unsuitable for typical line level signals.
Can I connect effect pedals between the SGI Stereo and my guitar amp?
Yes! The SGI Stereo will work just like your guitar, only you will be able to play through your amp from several hundred feet away.
Can I also use the SGI Stereo as a direct box?
No, the SGI Stereo is not a direct box. The SGI-TX’s balanced output is designed to work with the SGI-RX receive module.
Can I use the SGI Stereo with the JX44?
No, the JX44 is designed to be used with the SGI-44 or the mono SGI system only.
Can I use the SGI Stereo to extend the speaker cable between an amplifier and cabinet?
No. The SGI Stereo is intended for use with instrument-level signals only. It is not equipped to handle speaker-level signals.
Is the SGI Stereo compatible with Radial Catapult modules?
Yes, the SGI Stereo transmits analog over Cat5 using the same pinout as all Radial Catapult modules. Connecting the SGI TX to a Catapult system will feed the Left channel of the SGI to Channel 1 on the Catapult, while the Right channel of the SGI Stereo will feed the Catapult channel 2.
